Diploma Programme
The diploma programme will produce students who are technically
and aesthetically proficient in all areas of film and television
production to a high level of effectiveness, with the emphasis on
comprehensive acquisition of core skills. Courses will be taught
through practical and experiential learning with a theory basis.
The diploma has been developed out of years of experience in the
film production industry to produce graduates who will be useful at
work right out of college.
Learning Outcomes
At the end of this programme, graduates will be able to:
- Operate broadcast equipment in the television studio and the
control room in accordance with relevant practices and
procedures.
- Write scripts for commercials, films, and documentaries.
- Direct, capture and Produce feature films, documentaries and
drama.
- Edit video and films with high technical standards and
aesthetic awareness.
- Understand and apply sound design techniques, set design and
lighting.
- Understand and put into practice the planning and management of
film production.
Rules and regulations governing diploma
Duration & Course Structure
The Diploma will run for two years of two semesters each (four
semesters).
Each year is divided into two semesters one Television and one
Film production. Several key units are in two stages, with Level
One taught in Year One and Advanced Level taught in Year Two.
Each semester is 16 weeks (12weeks teaching, 2 weeks practicals
and 2 weeks exams)
36 contact hours per unit, with 30 learning hours per week and 7
units per semester
Class hours 8.30-10.30; 11-1pm; 2pm-4pm
Learning Methods
Outcomes and competencies will be achieved through lectures,
reading the required course reading materials, viewing others'
productions, demonstrations of equipment and hands-on experience.
Shooting a film or video is unexpectedly difficult, time consuming
and dependent on group organisation; much of the course is taken up
with teaching you how to ruthlessly organise yourselves and your
material, & such preparation must be taken seriously.
Mentoring Days
Producers,Directors,Technicians,and other prominent
people in the local industry will hold one day Master-mentoring
Class every week. These professionals will be drawn from all
departments of the industry.
